Anaheim, Calif. — Accelerate Change Together for Anaheim (ACT Anaheim), announced today that it is awarding $1.5 million in inaugural grants ranging from $100,000 to $200,000 to 10 local nonprofits to address gaps in services for underserved Anaheim youth.
ACT Anaheim was launched by Angels Baseball, the Anaheim Ducks and Disneyland Resort, which together committed $3 million to benefit Anaheim youth over the next three years. The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) joined as managing partner of the grant initiative, increasing the inaugural granting pool from $1 million to $1.5 million.
The inaugural ACT grantees were selected based on their ability to address the specific needs outlined in the 2012 Anaheim Youth Services Assessment, including engaging youth and parents, focusing on prevention as well as intervention, and fostering safe communities
Under the leadership of the OCCF, the grant pool has exceeded the $1 million anticipated for the first year. The Walt Disney Company added $200,000 to its original commitment and OCCF has added $300,000 from its discretionary funds and circle of donors, including the Ueberroth Family Foundation, the Swayne Family Foundation, Donnie Crevier and the Tarsadia Foundation.
